Which is more dangerous- a front tire blowout or a rear tire blowout?

I try to always have 4 good tires but it will help to know where to pay most attention.

Update:

I also think a front blowout is more dangerous but "Who R U" sounds positive it is the rear. Is there any research on this?

The myth is the front tire. If the front blow out, you still have a chance of controlling the vehicle. if the rear tires blow, you have a greater chance of losing control. Also, statistics show that when rear tires blow most persons slam their brakes( because the noise startles them). This unfortunately leads to a spin which noone can turn into or control. I worked in a tire shop, and you would be suprised at how many people will try to argue the other point. Even when you tell them your the expert. All wheel drive vehicles such as Subarus have to all 4 be changed at the same time.

Why do people keep saying the front? Check my source. A tire manufacturer. I'm sure they could even give you the stats. Why do people insist that you lose control of the front when you holding the wheel that controls the front. What are you holding that controls the back. Nothing = NO CONTROL.

Depends on type of car truck front wheel drive cars have to have better tires up front for traction and control. Trucks that carry weight better tires where the work load is. Most the time rear tire blow out is not much a problem. Unless your ford exploier has 6 or 7 people in it 100lb load on the roof and under inflated rear tires driving over 70 miles an hour while talking on a cell phone. BOOM ROLL Roll roll Then they all get a lawer to sue Firestone and ford. Because of that all car have air pressure monitors from 2007

Usually the front is the worst. Its possible to loose control easier. A rear blowout leaves you some control and better braking. Either blowout can be dangerous.

Front tire blowouts are more dangerous. This is where the steering and most of the breaking takes place. If you have front wheel drive, you'll lose power on one side and the other will push past it, skewing the car in the direction of the blowout.

Rear is worse. Loss of a front tire can still offer you the opportunity, albeit a tough one, to control the vehicle. Loss of a rear tire is total loss of control (you can not steer the rear end).

Front tire blowout, 'cause the front titres are steerable and when a tire blows in the front you lose steering control.

I've had both at high curve speed with rear wheel drive cars. Rear blowouts are much harder to handle.

The front tires are more dangerous, Because the car is harder to control. If you have 4 good tires, You will be alright unless You run over something.
