Converting UK Philips DVDR to US - anyone really know?

I have a UK Philips Recordable DVDR610, I have chipped it to play US Region 1 disk but it wont output NTSC signals. The manual claims it supports both but does anyone know how to change it. I don't want an external converter most are variable in performance and it affects picture quality. How do I reconfigure the output to NTSC?

You should be able to change the output to NTSC in the standard DVD menu. If it doesn't tell you how in the instruction manual, look at video [or picture] options.
