Did you know that mp3's have poor sound quality?

mp3's as well as other formats have lossy compression schemes.

yeah they are lossy compression schemes, but I wouldn't say they have poor sound quality, because that depends on the bitrate. The fact is, as you get around 192kbps and higher, an mp3 encoded from the original source (which is very important) can't usually be distinguished from the loseless compression.

That's why I use WMA when ripping CD's - a 192k WMA file has the same sound quality, if not better than, a 320k MP3 file but only 60% of the size. Low bit rates will cause poor sound quality because over-compressing the file will decrease treble response and can even make it sound "muddy".

Actually not all of them are like that. Because I've used the Zen Creative and it's sound quality is fine.

you'd have to be an idiot not to know about that. how could you possibly make a massive file so small without compromising on quality. it's common sense.
