if you already have a joint mortgage then you will require to have your affordability tested on your sole income or with the other party you intend to add to the mortgage (if thats the option). as they will not put it in your sole name if you cannot afford it. You require the current joint holders signed authority to take them ff the title deeds and from the mortgage. This is required to be done by a solicitor and is called a transfer of title.
if this is a brand new mortgage then the current holder of the deeds requires to discharge the security on the house with the land registry, again the solicitor normally deals with this and have the deeds transfered into your name. In order to get the mortgage u normally require 3 months consecutive bank statements which must be the most recent, they look for three years address history and normally require proof of address as they will run a credit score/search, your bank statements cannot also count as this they require additional support of proof of address, they will also require a copy of your passport, which i would have photocopied and certified as a true copy of the original by your solicitor.
hope that helps

BE careful !
Is it good value ?
Prices are starting to fall now and
YOU will be responsible for the DEBT !
Work out if you can really afford it !
Think of all the hours you must work to PAY
the mortgage and what if (WHEN) interest rates go up???
More sales, less equity in your home, BUT still
the MORTGAGE !
Does not "mortgage" mean something about "mort" and "gage"
ie. time and death ? Paying for a VERY long time ?
No holidays, no going out JUST PAYING for 25 YEARS ?
Maybe it made sense 5 years ago, I don't think so today,
Unless you are getting at least 30 % discount to the
house price WALK AWAY !
Also, BE sure you LOVE the HOUSE and LOCATION enough
to stay there 25 years !
