why do so many people care ...?

a lot of famous people are gay. I don't think it affects me personally though it's just nice to see people with status being who they are and not afraid of it.

People need Heroes. Someone like them that they can look up to. Knowing that a famous well to do person is gay, gives them something to strive for.

For the same reason so many people care which famous person is dating who, or what famous person was caught driving drunk, or what famous person was seen streaking in Hollywood, or other crap like that.

Because such people DON'T HAVE LIVES OF THEIR OWN TO PAY ATTENTION TO!

It's hypocritical. There are probably a lot of people who have bought Elton John CD's over the years but oppose gay rights and gay marriage.

Perhaps a lack of something better to do with their time?

While it might be mildly interesting to know, in the long run, it doesn't matter at all.

I want to know for sure before I ask them out on a date..I am very sure they will go, aren't you?
