what are the religious implications of the election/appointment of the next UN Secretary General?
Do you think it matters what religion, faith, or lack thereof, the next UN Secretary General professes. There is a lot of support to have a Muslim SG. There is also said to be an unwritten agreement that the next SG will be from Asia. The guy (I can't remember his name) from Jordan (which is considered Asian by UN standards, from what I understand) is said to be a strong candidate.
What are your thoughts on this topic, and in general on who should be the next UN SG and how will that affect the world, with any specific thoughts pertaining to religion that you may have

I guess they'll elect a Muslim. So as to show that there are no prejudices toward that religion (following the exemple of Mr. Elbaradei with the IAEA). But that would be mere symbolism.

The United Nations is the eighth wild beast of the Bible--the one that was, was not and is again. It is standing in the Holy Place and professing the ability to bring peace which God said only his Kingdom could bring. That is all I really know about the UN--Does that help?
