All they do all day is eat, they dont use much energy. In any animal, excess energy is stored as fat.

Lambs are very skinny when born and only get milk for the first few weeks. Their wool makes them look fatter than they are at first. Animals are able to digest grass with the help of several stomachs full of bacteria. Grass is rich in nitrogen and other nutrients, and they make what they need from these basic ingrediants.

Food doesn't have to contain fat for an animal to get fat eating it. Your body can make fat.
