sounds to me like you have a rod knocking.it wont do it at idle cause the engine is not under a load .as the engine gets hotter or operating temp,all the parts expand and things get looser.get it checked out while you still have it running cause you can rebuild it now,if it throws the rod out the side of the block,you will have to pay a core charge on the engine on top of what an engine cost.

Stop driving it and get it fixed before you destroy the engine completely..
