You may pick up some static noises from a loose cable or failing Harddrive and or Fan.But saying all that, check your Burning speed and reduce it under your Options Menu (whatever program you using) it could be your soundcard make minor changes also go troug DX to check and follow the help there. Is the Phono cable loose (back of the Card) .have you enabled a Microphone?

you better clean the CD with dry and soft cloth before keeping into the drive. otherwise , your CD drive's head have to be get repaired or cleaned .keep a cleaning CD with some cream on it. it will clean the CD drive's inner parts and keeps your drive nice

Did you reinstall the old drivers? I would go to the manufacturers site and get updated drivers for the burner
