An autopsy was performed Monday. On Tuesday, Her Majesty's Coroner Linda P. Virgill said that based on preliminary findings, "the cause of death is not natural." But, she said, "we wish to reserve [announcing] the cause of death at this time," adding that a toxicology results and a full autopsy report will be released by the end of the week.

Virgill said an inquest will take place afterward and her staff will interview all "relevant witnesses," including Anna Nicole Smith, hospital workers and flight attendants, to develop an official timeline.

The coroner's statements came in the wake of a story in the Nassau Guardian that Daniel Smith suffered a "massive heart attack" and that antidepressants had been found in his system. The newspaper said that Daniel was seen "vomiting uncontrollably" shortly before his death.

Police on Tuesday sought to downplay the Guardian report.

Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son died of a "massive heart attack" while visiting his mother and newborn sister in their hospital room over the weekend, according to media reports.

Daniel Smith had flown to the Bahamas on Saturday to join his mother and was in her hospital room Sunday when he suddenly collapsed.

According to The Nassau Guardian, sources say Daniel reportedly suffered a "massive heart attack" and his mother made an unsuccessful attempt to revive him.

Police officials immediately put the hospital on a security lock-down and remained tight-lipped about the incident, pending an investigation.

Police Press Liaison Officer Inspector Walter Evans confirmed the death yesterday saying, "This morning a Caucasian male was discovered sometime after 9 am.

"The cause of death has not been determined and an autopsy has to be performed. Once we would have (carried out) an autopsy, (this) would confirm the exact cause of death."

Soon after word of the death leaked out, members of the press descended on the hospital and were immediately rushed into a conference room.

Hospital staff hustled the baby out into a waiting van, while Anna Nicole's lawyer, Howard K. Stern, rushed out to the hospital parking lot at the same time.

Anna Nicole was reportedly whisked out of a backdoor exit, while Daniel's body was taken out through a side door and driven away in a hearse. Stern said in a statement, "Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being."

Smith welcomed her daughter into the world on Thursday. The baby, whose name has yet to be announced, was born in the Bahamas and weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces. She was conceived with photojournalist Larry Birkhead, who is currently estranged from Smith.

I saw that too. At first I misunderstood and thought they said she died. Then I saw it was her son. That is so, so sad. No one deserves that. She was just starting to get her poop in a group too. I really hope she doesn't lose it now. Her baby deserves a stable upbringing and if Anna loses it (again) it will effect her baby very badly. She needs to deal with her grief and make it all about raising her baby girl the right way. I have mixed feelings about Anna. One the one hand I think Skank! On the other I think misunderstood, desperately unhappy woman who needs help and support. Then on the third hand it's like a train wreck you can't help but stare at. All in all I love her! I dressed up as her for Halloween one year and my bf dressed up like an old man and I put him in a wheelchair, hospital gown and IV bag. I won the contest. Funny part is I couldn't find a good enough wig, so I bleached my black hair platinum blond.............inspired by Anna. She is the **** and my heart goes out to her immensely. I have seen people who have lost kids and it's not good what they go through. I have heard that your kid dying (or your mom) is as close to experiencing your own death as it gets. I really feel for her. I just hope she gets it together for her new baby girl! My heart is really breaking for her!

It is so sad, he was only twenty years old and no matter what his cause of death or how Anna Nicole Smith has acted in the past matters, how horrible it must be for her after just having a baby then losing her oldest baby who his lil sis will never know. No matter who a person is that is tragic.

I don't like Anna nicole but i would never wish this on any mother. To have a a new baby and and than lose your first born. I just hope she can mourn her loss in private.

I just read that on MSN...talk about irony. Good Grief. Can you imagine caring for a new baby while you grieve for your first born? It will be interesting to see what he died of . At this point they don't think drug/alcohol played a part in it. She lives a crazy life..seems like something is always going on. Half of the drama she ask for but this is a tragedy. He was such a cute kid. I wish her peace in her grieving process.

My 21 yr old son died of a heart attack four years ago.

The loss is beyond anything I have ever imagined.

My heart goes out to her, no one should have to exerience that sort of pain and loss. But, then death is part of life.

She is a colorful charactor definatly.

I wish I had a way to extend my sympthys to her.

It was 3 days after she gave birth to the baby. They're saying he died of a heart attack. And yeah, its really sad that Daniel died just as they were celebrating the birth of her new baby.

I actually despise Anna Nicole Smith, but she has my sympathies, no mom deserves this. The heartache she will always feel while celebrating the birth of her daughter and all the birthdays to come.

I hope she can find peace.
