1994 Range Flooding Problem?
I have a 1994 Ranger Splash, 2.3 liter(2 plugs per cylinder), 5 speed manual. Sometimes (maybe 25%)when the truck stalls either from AC load on start or poor clutching it won't start back up for 5 min to an hour. When you try to restart it will almost start(run for a few seconds.) The more times you try it the shorter it will run, until it won't even hit at all. If you touch the gas pedal it only makes things worse(even thought the manual says to hold it to teh floor for flooding)It is fuel injected. so my question is have any other ranger owners experienced this problem or does anyone have any ideas. Oh yeah if you just leasve it alone for usually 10 minutes of less it starts and runs fine. Has no other problems to speak of. Done it since I got it 5 years ago. Thanks!

I just checked the ASE database, and there seems to be several things that cause this little malady.
The two most often cited for the failure are to de-carbon the upper end, particularly the backs of the valves, the plenum and the throttle body (be careful with that last one; FORD says it isn't necessary, they put a coating on it to reduce the need for it).
The second most common cause is the MAF is sending back data just a LITTLE out of calibration, driving the computer to change fuel delivery and timing.
About all I can tell you with what we have.

NOTE------> As far as flooring the throttle when flooded (injectors WILL flood) is that the PCM reads the throttle position sensor as being over 90%, and when cranking in that position, will shut the injectors off to "clear flood", allowing the engine to spin over and purge excess fuel and dry the plugs enough to generate a spark.

Try replacing you gas cap it may be leaking and causing the problem. Fuel injected vehicles do not flood in the same sense as a carburated vehicle and should not be given more gas when the gas in the cylinder is not burned.

mmm the cord you've out of your coil to the battery is the mandatory warm cord it is how we use to scouse borrow vehicles after we were little ones coil to battery bump the starter and we were lengthy gone that area you describe isn't inventory as im particular that you know. i might want to seem on the upload on stuff first take it off and word what hhappens ignition comprises ideas yet ou say you've replaced it have you ever regarded at you wires from the ignition to the coil? no longer something suspect?/

sounds like your injectors r dirty need to be cleaned and check by a mechanic
