Dog conditioner?

I have a maltipoo puppy, who loves rolling in anything unmentionable, which means a bath! Problem is, his coat gets so tangled it's impossible to brush out, it's all knotted. Does anybody know if there's a "fur conditioner", like a "hair conditioner", for dogs? To make it easier to brush out? At the moment he hates his hair brush, and I can't say I blame him ....

yes there is. some more helpful hints are: brush your dogs hair 2 times a day to get out all the old hair that will end up tangled, right before giving your dog a bath brush him/her, and use dog conditioner I buy mine from the petsmart groomers. leave it on for a little while. When I brush my dog I get a spray bottle and fill it with water and put a few drops of conditioner in it. Then I spray it on him before he gets brushed.

I am a dog groomer and the best thing I have found in my 7 years of grooming is "Coat Handler". It is a conditioner and you can dilute it as a de tangle spray. I use the Coat handler as detangle spray and comb the dog out and then bathe the dog in a mild shampoo. Do not scrub the dog because you will only tangle it again instead just gently massage it and rinse untill the water comes clean Also dilute your shampoo no need for full stregnth unless it is really filthy. Put a small amount of coat handler on your dog wait 2 minutes and rinse. Gently towel dry and blow dry dog on low as to not retangle the hair. Comb as you dry. Viala

Unfortunately, unless he's brushed out before his bath, his coat will be quite tangled. What you can try is to put a little Calgon water softener in his bath water and get him to soak in it for 5 minutes (if possible). Be careful when you're bathing not to make the tangles worse by scrubbing his coat. After his bath, dry and brush him simultaneously. That way he'll dry faster and the coat will be easier to brush out - he'll also look fabulous when you're done!

The Main and tail products have a conditioner. I use a horse product detangler on my collies. Spray it on and brush them out. Works really good. Big R ,Murdocks, or any feed and supply store caries both products.
