Does light-skin wives equal success?
How come when lots of black male celebrities get famous, they automatically go for white, Asian, or biracial women? Wesley Snipes, Ice T, Charles Barkley, Dave Chappelle, Kobe Bryant, Taye Diggs....I mean....I'm not against interracial marriages...I think it's good that they can get pass skin-clolor....or can they? It just seems that we as black men have a certain belief of light-skinned as "success." Any takers?

It's sad that so many black men still buy into that myth. But celebrities are shallow to begin with.

I think black men as leaders are a little controlling. When you add a high level of success to that, they can become even more so. Now black women have a reputation of being head strong and argumentative and difficult do deal with. On the other hand, the other ethnic groups you mentioned have a reputation of being more subservient and submissive. So I think in a nut shell, they are chosen for less drama.

I am not afraid of the question. And I am not afraid of interracial marriages either. I wonder, like you, when there is a correlation like that, whether they aren't hung up on white. Its sad, if true and the very sadness of it makes it seem more likely if you know what I am saying. Maybe there is only a correlation in the set of guys who are hams for attention, though. Perhaps your typical black engineer goes for a normal black woman. Maybe just the comedians and sports celebs fall for it.

I have noticed that too. Most of your black actresses that are really famous are light-skinned (Halle Barry) Is that because darker women aren't that attractive or is it just society telling us so? I don't know, because it is the total opposite for white women. Tanned or bronzed women seem to be more desired than pale white women.

I can't really say this. You love who you love no matter the race or ethnic background...and this is coming from a chocolate candy bar-colored sister! There are so many entertainers/athletes that have darker, wives that are not racially mixed. I understand where you are coming from and some people are not able to see past physicalities and racial make-ups, but there are many who are married to these women out of love and not to make them a trophy wife! Many Caucasian men marry African-American women. Look at Robert De'Niro and Roger Ebert! Who would have guessed!

Well, Will Smith doesn't seem to fit into your mold. The only difference between white women and black women when it comes to finances, is white women go through more sunscreen.

Did you ever think that these white women are marrying black stars simply for the money? A lot of these women could care less about the color of a guy's skin as long as their money was green and there was lots of it.........

I do agree, it rather is totally unhappy that it rather is come to this. Like go searching in Hollywood, it rather is all skinny and lighter skinned. people tend to think of easy skinned is Beyonce and say they wanna be that, yet regrettably darker is misfairly stereotyped with the hood, crime, and gangs. i think of all of this is incorrect and people shouldn't sense like their pores and skin ought to be lighter in order that they might get forward and people will like them extra. there is loads of stable that comes from darker pores and skin that folk ought to comprehend for themselves.

That`s the world we live in. They`re just conditioned to it, like everyone else.
I can`t say it`s either bad or good.
