I have, but it is not as common as people make it out to be. Actually both times I've shown up without bags, the airline has known exactly where they are--- and both times they were sitting on the airplane back at the airport we'd just left. When flights get cancelled and people get put onto different flights, their bags don't always follow. I don't consider this to be a big deal, though, as I take about 45 flights a year. But I do always bring a change of clothes and a toothbrush in my carry-on!

It happened to me many years ago. I can´t recall the airline´s name. We were flying to Las Vegas.....
Our luggage arrived 3 days later! The good news: I had an excellent excuse for going shopping, and shopping, and shopping!
Less than 2 months ago I was flying Mexico - Atlanta - Seattle and the airline company literally destroyed my new baggage in Atlanta! It was 3:00 am; all offices were closed, I was taking a connection flight, and no one helped or even cared! Once I was in Seattle, I contacted the airline, gave them my ticket number, name, etc.... and know what? They told me that they could do nothing about it! That I should had done that in Atlanta´s airport!

Yes. But we got it back in 3 days, The luggage just never got onto our transfer plane. They were pretty cool about it but we still had to go 3 days on our trip with 1 pair of clothes.

Yes, well it was not lost, they did not have the 'man-power' to have it loaded on the plane. My luggage arrived that same night on a later flight. I was kept informed and it was happily delivered to me.

Yes, and at all places Heathrow Airport in London, England. I was 18 and it was my first time overseas and it was completely intimidating b/c I didn't know the culture. Luckily for me, a nice Brit helped me find my bags and get on my way :)
