Is there a relationship between chaos theory and evolution? If so, how would you describe it?
It seems to me that chaos theory may explain how life began, how life begins and how life ends. It seems that chaos theory may explain how things transform. Perhaps it could help us understand the rise and fall of civilizations.

It might be argued that chaos plays a role on the molecular level of replicating DNA which produces the evolutionary changes in a species.
However, there is nothing chaotic about why a particular species continues to survive when these evolutionary changes make it more adaptive to its environment.
I don't see a connection with the rise and fall of civilizations - these events usually take place in a relatively short period where as evolution is a long, drawn out process.

Chaos theory can explain lots of things such as natural phenomena but does not explain things like creation.
Chaos theory eventually results in order - whether that order is beneficial or destructive remains to be determined.
