Help get it off me!?
I have a new program that I just discovered living in my download folder. It just kinda popped up as an icon on the 11th. The actual file name is HIJACK~1.EXE, and the icon is trying to pass itself off as one from HIJACKTHIS. It shows a 0KB size at all times, but when I try and delete it I get the message that a program is using it...yadda yadda.... It's not listed as a running process either, so it's hidden away somewhere. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I have tried 6 different virus programs, both free and already subscribed too, that cannot find it!

hijackthis.exe is a process belonging to Merijn Hijackthis and monitors your browsers configurations and plugins. Modifications and restores can be made when necessary. This program is a non-essential process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

If it is Hijackthis( a kind of registry editor/helper) then look in the folder "C:\Program Files\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe"

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for that.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:
