An acrimonious argument erupted during the Israeli cabinet weekly

session last week between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and

his foreign Minister Shimon Peres during which Sharon reportedly

yelled at Peres, saying "don't worry about American pressure, we

control America."

According to Israel radio (in hebrew) Kol Yisrael, Peres warned

Sharon Wednesday that refusing to heed incessant American

requests for a cease-fire with the Palestinians would endanger

Israeli interests and "turn the US against us."

At this point, a furious Sharon reportedly turned toward Peres,

saying "every time we do something you tell me Americans will do

this and will do that. I want to tell you something very clear,

don't worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish

people control America, and the Americans know it." "

Israel is arrogant due to the covenant with God, that he will not let them be destroyed. Something like that can go to your head quite easily.

The US knows that Israel will only use it's nukes in a defensive measure against other nuclear powers. Why, because we control them, I don't care what they say, we are actually the ones who make policy for them.

The Jewish community is a part of an overall economic system that is resilient to terrorist attacks as proven by the 9/11 attacks.

What makes you so anti-semitic? Is Israel any more arrogant than the US is right now in the eyes of much of the world. One's perspective on this subject depends on which side of the fence one sits on and unfortunately due to arab propaganda and the politics of oil much of the world is lined up against the Israelis. Is it arrogant to want to continue to exist as a nation or to defend yourself when everyone wants to see you destroyed. Your question is screwed up on so many levels its hard to choose where to begin in setting you right, but allow me to address the nuclear question first.

Unlike their enemies, Israel has NEVER threatened to destroy any other country. That is the key difference. They just want to be left alone and be able to live in their own country without having to worry about being blown up by suicide bombers or rockets lobbed over their borders. What they do is in response to the threat frequently voiced by other nations such as by Rafsanjani in Iran who has publicly stated that he thinks Israel should be wiped off the face of that map and is pursuing nuclear weapons to accomplish that goal. Its exactly because of nuclear threats like that which makes it necessary for Israel to have a second strike capability (much like the MAD doctrine that kept us safe from the communists during the cold war and v.v.) BTW, if it weren't for the pre-emptive Israeli strike against Saddam's nuclear program back in the 80's, he probably would have had nukes and the first Gulf War might have turned out very differently.

As for you follow-up question. Jews represent less than 3% of the US population. To suggest that they DOMINATE (not dominant) the US economy is pure idiotic racist skin-head conspiracy theory type talk. To the extent they have a disproportionate share of the american pie is only testimony to their hardwork, intelligence, resourcefulness, etc. as a people. Isn't greater wealth and power the goal of every american? Don't hate the Jews for their accomplishments just because you yourself are a failure.

To put it very simply Israel does not threaten to use their nukes on the world and obviously have been provoked enough to do so yet they more importantly have much more common sense than other leaders with nukes in the world therefor can be trusted much more than the others that ARROGANTLY tout their nukes and DO threaten to use them on the world. Israel is much more empathetic to others and is not the people hating country that many other countries with nukes are. Sad but True!

Israel has had nukes for many many years now. They have not used them even though they have been provoked many times. I would think that if their nuclear program was a "threat to the world" it would have been obvious long ago.

The Israeli military is an extension of the US military. Israel can be trusted since their military is made up of mostly americans.
