Who else thinks the fashion industry is completely nuts?
In the world of today, there's constant talk about obesity spreading, yet, here we are looking at cat walks with the skinniest things called "women" (though it should be "sticks") strutting down with sizes 0-4! Don't they realize it just might be a better idea to show larger sizes to show that bigger sizes aren't evil? I'm (naturally) skinny, but feel so sorry and angry for the majority of young teens my age/women. How I wish to have a brand of my own-- for women big, petite, curvy, flat, short, tall, etc! I swear someday I will; what they're doing now is maddening. Do they LIKE to put down large people? Or do they think they're way of doing fashion shows are a way of motivation to get more and more women to get fit?
Thank you, babyblue, to have shown your pathetic ignorance and low education. Have a nice day.

I love the response you have given to your answer! I am the mother of two daughters and two sons and I have never in the 27 years I've had my children seen such a horrific change in the down sizing of the human body. I have one daughter who is chunky and another who is thin, thin, thin. Same goes for my sons. I wish people would realize that 'Diversity is the spice of life'.
I wouldn't want to see a world of equal sized people, just wonderfully healthy. The more you demoralize someone, because of their weight, the more, depression, anger and physical destruction, will continue. If we stop teaching people about small pant sizes and teach them about large heart sizes, we will be better off.
As a mother, I would like to say, that you make a mother proud. Be sure to let all of us know when you start selling! I will be the first one at the rack!

Modeling agencies and fashion promoters and designers seem to think the skinnier you are the better you look. Sunken eye sockets and ribs sticking out through the skin are not what I would call attractive, and women who look that way are more like victims of Nazi concentration camps. Women also have this obsession with weight. Seems to me like every time you turn around someone is asking "I am 5'8" and weigh 80 pounds. Am I too fat?" The reality will hit home one day when one of these bony, anoxic skeletons struts her bones down the runway and the razor edge on her shoulder blades rip her dress to shreds.
Just as obnoxious to me are the female body builders with muscles the size of grapefruits popping out all over their body, a cup size that would make an A cup look HUGE, and who in general look like Arnold Schwarznegger in drag.
This all freak show material, not beauty.

A large number of people in the fashion show industry have serious easting disorders and a pretty large amount of them use Heroine. Of course they are skinny! It's pretty sickening actually. Dove has started a campaign that features women of all ages, and body types. They are donating millions of dollars to support teen self esteem programs to try to change the public perception of what beauty is. Check out here website. It's really pretty cool.

i LOVED the way you described woman, curvy petite short tall big, im 5' 9" and also your age and when your that tall, unless your a runway model. youve got to be bigger. im not fat but i dont wear a size 4 , i think the reason they use sticks as a model is so that they have more male guests (what guy would want to see a "fat" model, which would probably be considered a size 8 to them) but i dont know, i would agree with the nuts statement

It's hilarious that anyone thinks fashion shows or limited clothing sizes will "motivate" a fat person to lose weight.
Maybe if some of these skinny people would come over to my house and help me do chores so I have time to work out...
There are millions of adult women who have better things to do than look in the mirror.

Its a wierd ritual I think.
If nobody can actually fit into the clothes they make. Then they can be as snooty as they want to be, charge whatever they want to, and its not accessable, so people want it whether its good or bad.

well ure certainly right but...to understand more u should read a little bit of fashion history and ull learn that the fashion is dictated not only of designers but also of the body evolution. if in ancient times the symbol of femininity was a fat woman, symbol of fertility also, nowadays..the symbol is a good proportioned figure..and in order to obtain that figure designers introduced the corset..so u see..fashion is much more than only cat showes..and what u see there is just an imagine!!

yep, somebody ought to do an "Abondanza" line, and celebrate real women and real curves, like the Dove commercial did-now there were some real, honest, beautiful women.
I don't think they actually are deliberately putting down large people, it is more that the "ideal" form they design for is so pre-conceived and the desired proportions so engrained that they just cannot imagine any other way.

Fashion and rationality have never exactly mixed. Centuries ago, women in the Orient had their feet bound, to fit inside tight little shoes. Years later, most became crippled.
Anyway, you might enjoy my question re: the banning of skinny models in Spain, posted just in the last half hour........

U make a very good point. I'm skinny too I hate when someone calls someone fat for no reason!!!! I love what u want to do when u get older and i say go for it and achieve it!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!! I aslo agree with u that fashion today is just trying to bring down bigger people!!!
