Alan Green (born Belfast, Northern Ireland 25th June 1952) is a BBC Radio Five Live sports commentator. He commentates mainly on football, but also covers golf and rowing.

Green attended Methodist College Belfast and then Queen's University, Belfast and worked on local newspapers before joining the BBC as a news trainee in 1975. He is currently probably Radio Five Live's first choice football commentator, allocated most of the top matches. He is also one of the regular presenters of the BBC's main football phone in programme 6-0-6. He is noted for his strident opinions, especially his derision of referees, which some consider to be over the top. Since the beginning of the 2004-05 season he seems to have made a point of also praising referees occasionally, perhaps under instructions from station bosses to moderate his approach.

Alan Green is also well known for his "feud" with Sir Alex Ferguson to whom he has not spoken for years. He is frequently accused by fans of various Premiership clubs of having a vendetta against their club and/or supporting a rival team, but he denies having an affinity with any of them. Rival fans of Manchester United and Liverpool each accuse him of supporting the other team, although Alan always maintained a strict neutrality, before confirming in 2005 on 6-0-6 that he is actually a Macclesfield Town fan. Green was banned from the Reebok Stadium (home of Bolton Wanderers) for making derogatory comments about the the team in February 2006.
