I just had a weird computer encounter. Help!?
I was just now online when multiple windows of a site I had typed in a few seconds before started opening. When I say multiple - I do mean multiple. They were opening faster than I could close them down. At last count before I turned off my computer to stop it - I had 66 windows of lowes.com open on my desktop! In all my years of working with computers I have never had this happen. Any ideas as to what caused it? How to keep it from happening again? (I checked my Norton program and everything is working correctly etc. )

man, maybe addware. But you typed lowes in, so it can't be addware. Explorer does have several glitches.

That happened to me 1 time as well. It occurred when I was downloading a file. I think it's caused by a specific program that u may have clicked on. I had to turn off my computer as well. It was impossible to click Start, shutdown, etc. due to the windows popping up. I have Norton Antivirus also, and so far it doesn't happen anymore. Now I just tend to avoid the website that was causing the problem. Not quite sure why this happened though.

HI, ok I'm going to try to help you with this one... Did you click on that site more than once? If so that may have been why, if not it may have just been the site with the problem not your computer. I have had that happen too, but it was because I am not patient and kept clicking the site to open. Hope this helps, Sarah

Ok a good popup blocker is what you need. Do a search on google for a free popup blocker and this should not happen again once you have it installed.
BTW The site you visited caused it. They made their site do that to crash your computer. I would not recommend returning there.

never i repeat never use a popup blocvker it only hides a growing problem that eventually takes over your computer. Go to www.ewido.com run the free online scanner and delet all internet temp files and any files in the temp directory.this should stop them

You could have a virus and/or spyware. get AD aware se and spybot search and Destroy and AVG free Edition 7.1.405 and CCleaner1.33.382 and ZONE Alarm free fire wall 6.5.737 you can get them here http://www.filehippo.com/
and also get Ersing free registry cleaner. you can get it here .
http://www.eusing.com/free-registry-cleaner/regist...
and when you get them. do a scan on your computer. but don`t use them all at the same time. use them one at a time use them one after the outer. And it is best that you do not go back the site that caused it. and use ZONE Alarm fire wall.
I hope this can help you.

check for viruses and get a virus protector on your computer. sometimes like sending direct chain letters can carry viruses so dont do that.
