What could be the psychological reason for me to fall ill right after I start feeling satisfied with myself?
I think the question has it all, I can add more details later, if need be.
And please no silly answers to just win 2 points. Thanks.
Thank you guys, all your answers are helpful!
Now I start thinking that answers #3 and 4 apply more to my case. But how to allow myself to be the best I can be?

My personal opinion is that it may be a form of OCD. I have OCD, and one of my obsessions is guilt. When I feel really good about myself, my OCD takes over and I start thinking that I don't deserve to be happy because I didn't do this or that the right way. All of that leads to stress, and stress can cause many physical problems (including a weakened immune system that would leave you susceptible to viruses and bacteria). I have a lot of digestive problems because of it. I'm no professional, so this is just my personal experience living with the disorder.

I would need more details to give a more thorough answer but here's what I have now. If the reason you are feeling satisfied with yourself is because you have just finished something major (graduated school, completed huge project at work for promotion, finished a dream vacation) you may have gotten ill from the stress. Often when I am working on something important I have higher stress levels. Stress can weaken the immune system and make you more prone to illness. Most of my major life accomplishments were followed by bouts of a bad flu or cold. Try to rest and take vitamins.

"Gosh Sattva, I'm not sure, exactly, what it's called, but, what I recall about it, there is something psychological about your situation.
I became acquainted with the phenomena that many people experience and your question is very, very similar.
It's been reported that a lot of people get sick over the weekends on their time off. Its frustrating to get a cold, or some malady, on the two days you get off during the week.
The way it was explained to me is that, few people get sick on workdays because it counts against them . Many, kinda "hold" their sickness to coincide with their days off. I don't believe they consciously do that on purpose, but, it happens pretty often, so I'm informed.
I"m no professional, but, I've noted some of the same things have happened to me, but, much less often as I aged. I guess I overcame most of the psychological causes later in life because it hardly ever happened to me when I understood the effects better.
I sincerely hope the awareness of this phenomena helps you in some manner!"

Sattva,
It is a very common situation.
Some people cannot deal
with success, or with things
going well for them.
Usually they have suffered
a great deal, and have taken
many falls, therefore, a loss
of self-esteem, and then,
when things start going
well, you anticipate the
downfall of it all, as you
are not worthy of it.
That is the best way I
can explain it, and I truly
hope it helps you, and
hope that you the power
to beat the 'old beast'!
Go for it!
