take the line of scrimage, add 10 yards for the endzone and 7 yards for the snap. So if the ball is on the 30, its a 47 yard attempt.

you take how many yards to the end zone, add 10 yards for the endzone, and then usually about 7 yards for the snap, so a field goal from the 20 yard line would be 20+10+7=37 yard field goal

Distance in Yards from the goalline + 10 more for depth of end zone= length of attempted /sucessful field goal

I'm not at all a football fan, but it seems a matter of mathmatics. The kick, at whatever yard line, to the horizontal bar on the goal post,,,which should be at the 0 yard line.
