Tell me briefly about Cricket Please.?
I have seen Cricket played on Dish ttelevision international sports and see it as fascinating. What countries and teams dominate and what player is the greatest all time and currently? Is defense considered important or is it the pitcher or hurler or whatever the term is? What is the most important aspect of the game?

Most important aspect of the game is to keep your wickets and bails intact. The batter is there to defend them. In the process they score runs, The more runs the batter makes the better. When the batter fails to protect his wickets and bails, he's 'out'. Alternatively he can go out by other means.
Currently, Australia rules cricket. All time greatest player- Sir Don Bradman.

This is a huge subject for a quick answer. Basically it was invented by the British, and consequently most countries in the former British Empire and now the Commonwealth play it. Top teams are England, Australia, Pakistan, India, South Africa, New Zealand and the West Indies (not in any particular order!).
I suggest you look at other sites on the net including the Wikipedia entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricket and also the International Cricket Council site at http://www.icc-cricket.com/

there are 11 players on each side. one side bats first and puts up a score the 2nd side has to beat. they have 300 balls each to play bowled by the opposite side by 5 or more bowlers. a world record was made by south africa and australia by making the higest number of runs in a match which was over 440 I think. Normally, the runs scored are between 200 and 300.
