Muslim violence: should we blame the religion, or the Arab culture surrounding it?
The cruelty and extremism of Muslims never ends. There's always something in the news. Do you think this insanity is coming from Islam? Or is it coming from desert nomad punks who have never really tried to enter the 20th century, let alone the 21st? Or is it a combination of the two?
The world pretends Muslims are civilized and I'm sick of it. They are barbarians. Some Muslims can fake civility, but if they do not condemn the barbarians then they share the guilt. Now they threaten to bomb the Vatican because of a speech! (No, I'm not Catholic.)
Western nations are violent too, and have their own evils. I didn't vote for Bush and I was against the invasion of Iraq under false pretenses. I think it was revenge against the Middle East, pure and simple, even though Iraq was not involved with 9/11.
But do we threaten to bomb Mecca? We do not. And what is the difference really? The religion, or the primitive culture?
Of the 4 Muslim replies to this question, only 1 states he is against bombing the Vatican, and even he doesn't condemn such a thing as evil.
I can declare that bombing a Muslim religious site would be evil. It's clear that even their moderates are unable to do the same for us.

When Islam first peeped on the scene, it was considered an ADVANCEMENT. It was seen as empowering for women, if you can even figure that. And if you read the book, its not all about killing people. I don't want to sound mean, but it's the Arab culture. They are like clueless dittoheads. They are badly educated, and I guess that is the basis of the problem. Their culture is insane.
I saw a documentary about this serial killer in Iraq (a few years ago). This man was going around killing prostitutes, and when he was caught, his family was proud, and people were applauding him for cleaning up the town! I was dumbfounded. (he did eventually get hanged, though).
They are still living and dying by the sword, and I don't know what we can do to help them.

The religion is not responsible for this.
Israel and the Western countries supporting it against Muslims are responsible for this.
And I as a Muslim confirm that the idea of bombing the Vatican is a lie, if a certain angry person said that, this doesn't mean that Muslims are going to do that.
As a Muslims I'm against such an act.
We want a world where people of different religions live peacefully together without hatred, racism and violence.
We Muslims are peaceful people, and people who say that Muslims will bomb the Vatican don't represent Islam. We Muslims respect the Vatican, but we want respect from the Vatican in return.
Sincerely
Mike

So just because there are some Muslims that are religious fundamentalist fanatics, all Muslims are like that? Then all Christians are violent and uncivilized. For example, the Branch Davidians in Waco, or how about Ruby Ridge? These were religious fundamentalist fanatics. But they were Christian. By your theory, all Christians then are violent. We should just bomb all Christians and wipe them off the face of the earth, too, shouldn't we?
Islam is a very peaceful religion. The problem is that you get a few wackos thrown into it, and that is all you hear about from the media.

You people have threatened to bomb Mecca. I've read about many American editors and many people on this very website. If you hold responsible 1.6 billion people for the actions of a few extremists, then I suppose I must hold 300 million Americans responsible for that, right? Its much more likely to be true.
You have probably never been to any middle eastern country (try the UAE), or probably havent even been out of the US. Yet, you pretend to know the way we live our lives.
I'm sick of the way you dumb Americans seem to know everything about the rest of the world, fed by your biased media, without ever stepping out of your country.

All religions have their fundamentalists. But it would be correct to say that Muslims probably have it more than others.
The reasons are:
1. Lack of democracy in most muslim states
2. Importance of religion in the lives of muslims
3. It is the fastest growing religion. So its in conflict with those religions from whom convertion is happening.
4. The basic concept of jihad, which has been used for all sorts of reasons to kill people.
5. Lack of appropriate role models

I agree the Muslims have been violent since 400 AD and maybe even before then.
