I have an older tv, a DVD player, and an RF modulator. I can't get them to work.?

I tune the tv to channel three, which is where the RF modulator is set. The light on the modulator next to "3" comes on. After a number of seconds the DVD starts playing, for a matter of seconds, and then the connection is lost. This only happens sometimes. Often the DVD won't play at all. What could be the problem?

Update:

I tried channel 4 and it worked last night such that I watched a whole movie. Today I can't get anything. I will try a new modulator.

Update 2:

New modulator, same deal. :/ Thanks guys!

Does your modulator have an option to view on Channel 4? If so, try that

Bad RF modulator. Buy one at radio shack,, try it.. if it works,, you know the old one is bad,, if not return it. sounds like a intermittant connection in a chip/transistor in the RF modulator.

Check your coaxies. These are the little plugs that cable is hooked into. The ones you have to screw the plugs on. On an older TV you may have a short.
