Democracy or Corporate Capitalism? What's there now is plutocracy.?

Criticism of call it what you want, plutocracy, unfettered capitalism does NOT imply communism, but it does mean travesty (mocking ) of democracy.

Can democracy produce these statistics?

The top 1% of the American population averages $15 million in net worth. Middle class holdings are $81,000. 30% of households have less than $10,000 in holdings, and 17% of households have a negative net worth. And this is said to be the wealthiest nation on earth!

Source of the statistics and worth reading

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article15...

Update:

What I'm saying is that even inequality should be within some REASONABLE level for a society to be healthy. In a proper democracy that balance would be more or less maintained.

IF what we have is a democracy, then these statistics show that the citizens are idiots. I think Americans are NOT idiots, but asleep, and the mainstream media is working for plutocracy, not the people and democracy.

If you are not having any money all systems will be one and the same. Even in communist china now they have billionaires.

So either you have it or you are on the outskirts.

Use the system and advance and don't wait the system to change..it will not.

People are often mislead by statistics, they don't understand the concept, that if their neighbour has a million and they have nothing, on average they have half a million.

Politicians have long become a class of their own, and together with the owners of big companies, and often enough subject to them, they rule in most countries, relying on their voter's short memories and belief in statistics instead of their own eyes.

So, yes, "western" style "democracies" are really oligarchies or plutocracies.

Label it how you wish. I awoke this morning with the same freedoms that I had when I went to bed. The statistics concerning the worth of the American population divisions only points out how poor the remainder of the world is, not how wealthy we are.

Net worth is kind of equatable to "smartness with money". I have known many people who make great incomes 200k+ and have little net worth. And I have known others who make little and have created a net worth....thru capitalism, I might add. Your question really has no meaning....

And I began thinking I was answering a question on Pluto...I'm not surprised he feels crass...
