Many elementary schools have some kind of service offered either nearby or in the school sponsored by an organization like the YMCA or another local caregiver. Ask at the school office; I bet they have a list of caregivers that work in conjunction with your kids' school.

I don't have kids, but I'm going to be a stay-at-home mum till my kids are old enough to stay home alone.
Its a very personal descison, so not one you should take lightly - you've got to do whats right for you. If you cannot find someone long-term to provide after school care, then you have no choice but to stay at home. If you have plenty of time and you want to stay in your job, you should keep looking.
