Is "lol" way over used on Yahoo! Answers?

Does it irritate anyone else? People will make a joke and then say "lol" as though that is our cue. I notice only people with female avatars use it, so, it always makes me think they are ditzy. Is it just the very young girls that use it all the time, or are there users with a more "classical" age also using it?

Update:

I know what lol means.

Update 2:

I will pick a best answer, and so I only wasted two points, but it really gave me the chance to vent, so it was well worth it. (Plus, I just made level 5 and have points to spare).

YES - it is way overused... to the point that it doesn't mean what it originally did anymore. And it is not just here, but everywhere on the internet. It seems that it now more means, "oops, I hope that didn't p**** you off, but I said it anyway". And yes, it does seem to dominate the younger generation, and females in general. NETS on this subject.....:)

i pass by making use of the same old of the respond and the relevance of it. i'm in college, and that i won't even start to describe the magnitude of completely examining the question formerly hand and answering it straight away. I actual have failed first twelve months essays interior the previous for no longer in particular addressing the question asked. i've got style of introduced that over to my determination techniques on Y!A - the guy who gets the superb answer is regularly the guy who superb addresses the particular question I had asked and would not pass 'off-subject rely' which i detect many solutions do. that's the guy with the main suitable answer. I additionally examine out how lots theory and attempt the answerer has placed into their reaction; i will purely approximately on no account chosen a single lined reaction over a reaction it incredibly is a few paragraphs long in spite of the indisputable fact that there are some exceptions to that rule. I additionally choose the guy who superb backs-up or defends their claims. somebody who purely provides me an answer yet would not hardship to describe why they think of that way can no longer anticipate a BA from me.

well if you're typing & you actually laugh to yourself, you kind of want to give the question or answer the spirit that it was written in ('cause lots of times things can be taken the wrong way during typing w/o non verbal cues or tone).

that being said, it's annoying. we should find another phrase 'cause i keep thinking of lollipops.
