HOW to cope with chronic daily headache?

I have had a headache for over 4 months now. Been to Dr., had MRI, getting blood tests, blood pressure fine, so far no sign of intercranial pressure or stroke. I do not see an end in sight, lost faith in Doctors.

I have other, more serious, health issues to contend with, I have a fairly high tolerance for pain and I need it for enduring this...it is a pressure headache with the intensity of a severe migrane 24/7, nothing works.

So anyone who has these chronic daily headaches, how have you coped?

What do you you everyday to get through each day?

I mean do you still drive and stuff?

I have had migraines since my first pregnancy, 25 years ago. I go to PT for a car accident for Myo-fascial release. It helps the accident stuff, but not the migraine. I have been to doctors, naturopaths, etc., without much relief.

I am trying acupuncture and Chinese herbs now. I have had 6 treatments so far. Sometimes it has helped, even stopping a bad episode. Since yesterday's treatment I am achy and feel rotten, so I can't say one way or the other about this treament yet.

Make sure that you take some extra magnesium and drink enough water. I add fresh lime to mine, then I drink more water because it tastes better.

Life is a struggle. There are days I can't drive (can't see straight) or be driven because I feel too sick to my stomach. I take ginger for that.

Some days I have no appetite and then I hate to take medicine, but those are the days that I need the medicine most. At worst I lie still as I can and just breath. That seems like more than I want to do. I generally have the TV on some low key kind of show and just get through that time.

I have tried all the anti-depressants, inderal, topamax, etc to prevent headaches. None of them helped me. I take amerge and fiornal.

My headaches are not rebound headaches. They follow the same pattern that they did when I was pregnant and took no meds or caffeine. Light, sound or weather changes make it worse, so do smells, flourescent lights and half of the rest of everything.

I hope you find something that works for you. Don't give up! Look for what is calming and beautiful around you. It's still there even when you hurt.

Remember that Thomas Jefferson had month long migraine attacks.

I don't know if you've seen a doctor about this, but pain is the bodies way of saying, "Hey. Something's wrong!" It is in no way normal to have headaches with the pain and frequency that you're having them. I get my migraines about once or twice a year, but I get cluster headaches that are brought on by a killer disease called vasculitis, which involves some of the blood vessels in the brain. When I get these cluster headaches, I go in for an intramuscular shot of Toradol which treats the problem. But the vasculitis was thankfully found on Memorial Day after having a headache going into my second day followed by a purple discoloration on the right side of my head. The purple discoloration notwithstanding, had I not gone in for my headache, the vasculitis might not have been diagnosed and I may have been dead from a stroke by now, which is probably how I'll die from the vasculitis. But I'm in remission now all because I went in for a headache and got a proper diagnosis. As far as temporary pain control goes, I would ask for a prescription of Oxyxodone 5 mg. and take them under the tongue. It will go into the brain much faster that way and I take 70 milligrams a day of Percocet/Oxycodone a day. You can also wear a 25 mg. Fentanyl patch as well that might help you with pain control. I wish you the best and I hope you feel better.

    Hi!

When all else fails, many folks realize that maybe modern medicine doesn't have nearly all the answers...

    So what do you do?

Turn to the basics. Instead of treating the symptoms, go right for to the source and heal yourself from the inside, starting with the very thing that dictates how healthy and illness free we will be. We've all heard the old saying, "You are what you eat". Nothing is more true.

    Want to feel better?

Cleanse yourself from a lifetime of poor eating, chemicals, preservatives, artificial flavors/colors/sweeteners, toxins, and processed foods. Once your digestive system, liver, and colon have been detoxed, cleansed, and rejuvenated you will feel and look years younger, and your body will be equipped and prepared to bring you to a new level of health you never dreamed possible...

If I sound like I'm preaching, it's only because I've seen what a good cleanse and healthful eating can do for chronic illnesses, disease, cancers, ulcers, headaches, skin conditions, obesity, and anything else that ails us.

Read up on Juice Fasting, the MasterCleanse, and eating healthier (vegan and mostly raw is the best way to live, avoiding caffeine and processed foods!).

In the middle of my own 40 day fast (started with a 14 day Juice Fast, following with 26 days of MasterCleanse, currently on my 23rd day of Fast - half way there!), I can tell you that my own migraines, insomnia, OCPD, stomach problems, and even "stubborn extra pounds" are all gone.

Don't dismiss what nature has to offer you in the way of whole fresh organic produce, natural cures, and cleansings just because it isn't what you're used to.

Do some reading and research... Healing is possible when you take things into your own hands and stop relying on traditional drugs and 'medicines' and change your DIEt to a LIVEt!!!

    :)

Try someone who specialzes in Myofascial Release or Rolfing. I had chronic headaches for years, but after treatment, I get maybe 2 a year.

Also try drinking a gallon of water a day. You might be dehydrated..

I would go to a Chiropractor. I have had great success with many health issues including headaches. I have heard of a good chiropractor doing anything from curing nose bleeds and eyesight problems to the typical back and neck pain. The key is, make sure you get a real good one. Get a referral from a friend.
