After taxes on it I would pay off all debts/mortgages, and put about $250,000 in some sort of high interest bearing account/investment. I'd buy reliable and efficient vehicles. I'd set aside a certain amount for each of my kids to go toward education, down payment on a house, etc. Maybe $100,000 would be earmarked for that. I might give $50,000 to some charities, etc., but that's "iffy".

I'd keep working until retirement. I enjoy what I do and wouldn't want to sit around and just spend money. That would get old, and a million dollars less the things mentioned above really wouldn't leave all that much to "coast" on. One serious illness with a long stay in the hospital could wipe out a lot, so I'd want to keep my employer-subsidized health coverage.

However, if I won ten million dollars I'd probably resign from my current job, set aside a million or so for medical needs, do all the other things mentioned above, and look into going into some business ventures that required a significant capital investment, like a franchise or something where a great return on the investment was likely and where I could have a significant part in managing the operation(assuming I knew something about it).

As long as we're dreaming we may as well dream big, no?

Invest everything left over after taxes and live comfortably but modestly off of the interest. Even at 5% interest per year, that is $50,000 a year (on the full million dollars) - enough for me to live quite well.

I'd get on the next plane to Vegas/ live the high life for awhile/ re-coupe in Hawaii/ make a pit stop in the Hampton's-(only in the summer of course) before heading to Miami for the winter-but theres nothing like spending the holidays in NY-so I would be there until New Years.....PS .... i would also take care of everyone i love/ what ever they need-OK so i would need more then mill-let's up it to 50!!! ahhhhh the dream

stop going to school, stop working, and invest most of the money so i could live the rest of my life without having to work for "the man".
