The congress shall make no law abridging the people's right to bear arms.

It is actually quite interesting the way this amendment has been twisted and ignored. See the founders of this country were revolutionaries. (Terrorists in today's parlance.) They believed that in order to keep the government in check, the people should be armed so as to prevent abuses. Hence the government was forbidden from taking away the people's weapons. The notion was that individuals should be armed well-enough to defeat the government in a stand-off.

Of course that is no longer the case. We are essentially an unarmed society in America today.

GUNS! rite to bear arms is actually the second most popular amendment next to # 1 freedom of speech.

and # 5 the right to not increminate yourself.

    But the least known amendments are # 4 and # 25 ..

    # 4 protects you from police invading your private residence without a search warrant.

and the 25th .. lets the vice president become president -if the actual president is in a coma or in a surgical sleep or knocked out...

ie; if GW has to go to surgery .. while he is in surgery..Dick cheney is officially the prez....until GW wakes up.

Amendment II - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Let the amateur lawyering begin! LOL

In terms a high schooler like me knows: It's the right to own weapons in your house if you're licensed.

In what I learned it: The right to bear arms
