There is more to Liberalism and Conservativism than a rote dictionary definition. I am a Republican therefore considered conservative. However I believe in getting government out of the way of a person's ability to succeed. Smaller government means less tax money to support it, more money for working people. But that requires change, generousity and provides bounty I guess I'm a liberal Republican.

I am a progressive. I have liberal leanings because I am a Southern Baptist. I follow the teachings of Jesus. I strongly believe that there is room for all at the cross. I also believe "there but for the grace of God go I." Which means to me "I am my brothers keeper"
I do not agree that a $9 trillion nation debt ran up by Republicans is good for America, on budgets, I am a conservative. Working class tax payers will pay that. Working class tax payers will also pay the $2 trillion cost of the war in Iraq. Republicans never pay for there own mistakes. BTW, Liberals are the majority. Conservative love the lair and love lies. Liberals seek the truth and are willing to live with it. Conservatives dismiss the truth and embrace the lie as truth.

Based on those definitions I'm a liberal, but i tend to be some where in the middle of the two when it comes to politics. I'm not as generous as a liberal and left leaning libs in this country are borderline socialist with some really twisted views. I'm definitely not as closed minded as a conservative but i do believe in values and morals but what i see as moral does not always fall under the conservative umbrella. Those guy do what they do regardless of how screwed up it is. I'm proud to say I'm independent, i base my views on everything from a realistic point of view and not an ideological view like most people.

I think my moniker speaks for itself. If you are in question go here:

nicolasra... Uh, last time I checked our conservative idiot in cheif had given away over 300 billion in American money to Iraqi's and that could reach 2 trillion before it is all said and done with. I would rather that money go to Americans that need it.
By the way, all those who say they are left of center, moderate liberal, free thinking liberal. You are probably the most "liberal" of all. Being a liberal is about accepting change, not blindly following the masses, being an independant thinker. Conservatives would argue that the biggest weakness of liberals is that we don't always agree with each other. That couldn't be farther from the truth, it may hurt us politically, but it makes us stronger than any other group of people in the world. Blind faith is not a strength, it is a great weakness, that is a conservatives greatest weakness.

A moderate with liberal leanings. I'm pretty progressive on most issues - environment, conservation, energy, anti-war (but not anti-defense). But I'm a fundamentalist when it comes to the US Constitution. I'm also for capital punishment.
