In GMail, is it possible to...?

...change from "username@googlemail.com" to "username@gmail.com"?

Update:

Sorry, I should have explained what I was asking better. When I send an email, the recipient sees "username@googlemail.com" ... can I change this to gmail?

Update 2:

Thanks Carella.

No. Google had to change the name because of a legal ongoing problem. Those with original gmail accounts are still able to use "name@gmail.com" but those given "name@googlemail.com" are, I'm afraid, stuck with it.

You cannot officially change your domain address from googlemail.com to gmail.com or vice versa, because of certain server as well as legalities in the cyber arena. But, inorder to ensure that customers dont have any problems while sending to gmail users, the message will be delivered to the recipient even if the domain name entered is either of the two names. So, you dont have to worry if your friends send mail to either of the domain names since both the domains belong to Google.

You can not set the From address to be gmail.com but you can set the "Reply To:" to read <user>@gmail.com. Like those have said before me, legally google cannot use the gmail name in the UK.

don't think so... googlemail is Brittain's version of Gmail, since the gmail name was already taken in the UK by the time Google brought out their mail service.
