I must of missed the memo about guys not being able to buy there SO intimate apparel.?
Monday my fiancee will finally be home from the month long training course she has been conduction out of town. Since we haven't seen each other in a month, I thought it would be nice to get her something sexy to wear like a nightie or a teddy. I told her that I wanted to get her something special for Monday and she gave me her size.
The first two stores I went to, the ladies working in that section acted like I had no business shoping in that department. I even had one tell me that she didn't think they had anything I would be interested in and I should go else where.
Since when is it a crime for a guy to shop for a nightie, teddy, etc for his gf/fiancee/wife.
Has anyone else run into this situation, or did I end up with two grumpy people who just didn't want to be bothered.
I did find a couple really nice things some place else and did run into some helpful workers. They even told me to come back on Wednesday because they are getting some new stuff in then.
Thanks. I thought it was a little weird. I even told the lady at the store I bought the stuff from about that and she thought it was strange as well.
Zebrarain,
I was just thinking the same thing about the movie Pretty Women. While I'm not spending a ton, it is the stores loss because I am going back to the other store and get a couple other things I liked.
RiverGirl,
That's exactly what I did. And you know what I like what I got at the other store better anyways.

I can't believe that salespeople would be so dumb as to shame a customer away. Don't let those uptight, pent-up, jealous dorks take away from your romantic gesture. Try another store and remember to never go back to those ever again.
My boyfriend and I had a similar experience shopping for lingerie together. One of the snooty ladies kept making faces at me when I would hold up something up to myself and ask for his opinion. You would swear I had stripped down to my undies in the middle of the store from the look on her face. We just went elsewhere and spent a bundle. Make a face, lose out on a nice commission.

Huh'. In all honesty I'd never heard of someone getting a hard time shopping for that kind of thing. My friend worked at a Victoria Secret and before that a 'nightie, teddy' type of store in the mall and she said half the people that came in there were guys looking to buy for their girls. I guess you just happen to have run into two of the most snooty people around.

Go to another store. Ever see Pretty Woman? If you're not dressed the part... wedding ring and all... then you OBVIOUSLY have alterior motives, right? No, they don't know. They have prejudices, and you have fallen victim to a few crappy people. Human Beings are funny.

its just the ladies in that store, I do it all the time and they are very helpful with me, they even try it on for me.
