You need to call her doctor adn get a referral to a Registered Dietitian (RD) immediately. Or preferably, enroll her in a Diabetes Management Center (usually found in larger cities). There is WAY more to a diabetic diet than avoiding sugar, and given your daughter's young age, she needs to get on the right track NOW to avoid complications later in life. I know it is hard for a teen to look much past next month, but this is vital.
If you can find a dietitian with the additional credentials of "CDE" (Certified Diabetes Educator), that is best.
Best wishes!

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.
And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

Instead of asking morons what your daughter should be eating, make an appointment with a dietitian recommended by her doctor. Hope you are seeing an endocrinologist.
