I need help with the History of the Modern Middle East?

Just like many Muslim countries, Turkey is modernizing, but there are a lot of people who want to return to more traditional ways. A clearcut example of this is the battle that is occurring over whether or not women should cover their hair, especially now that many women are going to school and working in modern offices. Religion demands that a woman is demurely dressed, which includes covering her hair and wearing long sleeves, but a strong percent of the population is defying that.

Also, all the trouble that is occurring in places like Kosovo is the after-effect of the Ottoman empire losing control over that land.

Another very timely topic is the struggle of the Palestinians to survive as Israel struggles to secure its hold.

Well this is an easy question because alot of messed up things have been happening in the middle east. How about how Israel invaded Jerusalem and took this holy land. How about that there is no democracy in middle east, for example when egyption president won elections with 99%, I mean what is that!

How about how Saudi people are focusing on just what women are doing and ignoring all other major problems in life. How about the major change in Dubai (mostly economically) and how it now brings people from all around the world. I am telling you most history in middle east is related to messed up stuff lately and I am ready to help you write anything....

I think one of the most influential events in the Modern Middle East is in the 1970's in Iran when the radical-traditional reformist movement came into being and is still affecting the world today. Good Luck! ;)

How about the foundation of modern Turkey? the foundation of modern Turkey. took place in 1923 when a republic was declared with Mustafa. Kemal Atatürk as President.
