Why do "deleted" questions remain on tne Answer's "Open" list?

The volume of "open" questions is getting so large! I reversed the date order so that the oldest questions appear first. I then looked for some questions with "0" as the number of answers, to try to clear them out. When I click on them, a comment pops up saying that "this question has been deleted as the time expired and nobody answered the question," or words to that effect. (There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of questions that have exceeded the time limit for answers, which are clogging up the "Open" section!)

If the question has been deleted (by the Answer Staff, presumably), then why is it not REMOVED FROM THE OPEN QUESTIONS?!?

Answer staff, it seems to me that you could create a separate section for "deleted questions" like you have for "Resolved" and "Vote" questions... ???

I think they should take those questions off of the list. I don't think they should make a section for those type of questions because who would want to look at a bunch of deleted questions?
