My very favorite apple is the Honey Crisp. It's a newer variety that's sweet, exceptionally crisp, perfect color and wonderful texture. They're expensive but worth every cent! YUM! I've listed a web site below that gives you complete information on this apple.

Here's my favorite apple recipe. It's called coffeecake but is more like a super deep, super huge apple pie. Once you've served it they'll ask for it over and over again. If you have lots of apples you can mix together an extra batch of filling and keep it in the freezer for later use.

    APPLE COFFEECAKE (9 x 13)

    CRUST

    1¼ cups flour

    1 stick butter

    ¼ t. salt

    FILLING

3-1/2 lbs. apple pieces (15 whole apples - Courtland works best)

    3/4 cup white sugar

    ¼ cup brown sugar

    2 T. flour

    2 t. lemon juice

    1 T. cinnamon

    1/8 t. salt

    TOPPING

    2/3-cup brown sugar

    1/3-cup white sugar

    1 stick butter

    1½ cups flour

Mix crust and press into pan. Mix filling and add to pan. Mix topping using COLD butter and soft brown sugar. Sprinkle on top of cake. Pan should now be filled right to the very top and weigh a ton! Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 45 minutes or until apples in center are fork tender and top is nicely browned. Store covered tightly in refrigerator. When serving try heating in microwave and topping with ice cream or whipping cream.

I like the Gravenstein Apple, It grows around the Sebastopol/Santa Rosa, CA area...I grew up there. They are green with a nice tangy bite but still sweet enough to eat on it's own. They are also very good in pies.

I like Braeburn to eat raw or the classic Granny Smith for cooking. Here's one of our favorite fall recipes.

    2 to 2 1/2 cup flour

    2 teaspoons baking powder

    1 teaspoon salt

    3/4 cup shortening

    1/2 cup milk

4 to 6 Granny Smith or other cooking apples, cored, peeled, and sliced

sugar, approximately 1/2 cup, for sprinkling apples

    cinnamon

    nutmeg

    butter, cut in small pieces

    Syrup:

    2 cups sugar

    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

    2 cups hot water

    1/4 cup margarine melted

heavy cream or ice cream, optional

Combine flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually add milk, stirring to make a soft dough. Roll dough into a 1/8" thick rectangle on a lightly floured surface; cut into 5-inch squares.

Place 3 or 4 pieces of apple on each square. Sprinkle each with 2 teaspoons sugar and a sprinkling cinnamon and nutmeg to taste; dot with butter. Moisten edges of each dumpling with water; bring corners to center, pinching edges to seal. Place dumplings 1 inch apart in a lightly greased shallow baking dish. Combine 2 cups sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 2 cups hot water and 1/4 cup butter or margarine; stir to dissolve sugar. Pour syrup over dumplings. Bake at 375° for 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve hot with cream or ice cream.

i'm what they call depraved clever. One nighttime i became out with the lads and have been given a woman's telephone quantity partly via crushing a Harvard grad pupil named Clark with theories of pre-ingenious utopia and the capital-forming outcomes of protection rigidity mobilization I observed him later sitting in a eating place next to a window so I banged on the glass and asked him "Do you like apples?" He reported "yeah." So I shouted, "How approximately them apples," as I slapped her quantity against the glass.
