can I change the recorded (downloaded) volume on my ipod? (SOme are downloaded louder etc)?

Update:

normalizer? do I need to purchase that in addition to the itune software?

    If you use itunes go to your library and select all the songs then Ctrl+i and set the volume all the way up

    Yes. You need a "normalizer" program.

    edit: Purchase software? Hmm... interesting concept...
