His name was Tony Mason, He used to present Top Gear in the late 80's early 90's too!
I always got him confused with Nick Mason - the drummer of Pink Floyd!!!

It's Tony Mason as already mentioned he presented on top gear and top gear motor sport during the 80's and 90's....he was also a co-driver for ford during the 70's..he rallied in those beautiful escort mexico's and escort rs 200.

Didn't hear British Rally commentators in the 80's.
