Pay your bills on time, and try to pay more than the minimum amount. Those are the 2 biggest things! Pay off as quickly as you can so you don't have a lot of outstanding balances. It looks good if your debt-to-income ratio is low. Sometimes consolidation is a good way to go, like equity loans. Talk to your bank. Also try to close any open credit accounts, eapecially ones with high interest rates. It's good to see on a credit report that the accounts were closed by the account holder and not the creditor due to non-payment. Some states offer free credit reports (www.equifax.com). Order a copy of yours and review it for duplicate entries and the status of your accounts and go from there!
