anyway of depicting the texture and depth of an object. Ex. A ton of evenly spaced thin lines to show something that has a rough feeling, little shadowing showing not much change and steep. Thicker lines and more shadowing showing somwthing more taperd and less ridgy i.e. a washboard. Dots to show that something has all these little bumps, waves in the hair. Anything to add more realistic, 3d feel to a 2d object. Usually using shapes, lines, and shadowing.
