What do you say when you are asked to speak at a meeting where your boss is being filred?

I have been asked to give it a positive spin.

    What a terrible situation.

I would find a way to have a conflict - "Sorry, the school just called and I need to pick up my daughter right away."

Or the cat to the vet - or something.

I think it is terrible to be asked to do such a thing.

You don't want to burn bridges with your former boss or with the current - so play like Switzerland and just remain neutral.

If you MUST speak, make it brief. Be honest. Say, "I was asked to speak at this meeting today, yet I am not quite sure how to approach the challenge. I would like to wish --- the best in his/her future endeavors."

    Good luck to you.

Is this for real? If I was in a meeting and this happened I would tell management and everyone present that I have no comments to make. The reason he's being fired is I think is a private one. If you do have something positive to say I suggest you go to the big boss and say it in private. Show your support but since the decision has already been made there's not much you can do. This doesn't sound like the kind of compay I want to work for.

I hope the boss isn't literally being fired at the same meeting! That's just wrong. And there is no positive spin when someone loses her job. That's corporate speak for make us look less like sh*theads.

And lastly to my great boss (well I should say former boss...haha), it has been great working with you and a learning experience, at least I learned what not do do, since you are getting fired.....now don't let the door hit you on the way out...

The above would be funny, but since you probably shouldn't say that....

I would just say that you have enjoyed working with them and under their leadership you have learned this, this, and this.

That is bad to get fired at a meeting ~

Accepting for a moment your fantasy regarding heaven, I suspect my first words would be to security. I would inquire how many billion souls were in the que in front of me.
