How is it most of the American population is composed of Rednecks with Confederate flags on their porch?

Update:

What is up with these damn rebels?! They're annoying! And to all you rednecks out there; you do know the Confederaytes weren't American don't you?

Preserve the Union!

Update 2:

Actually, I live in Pennsylvania, and everybody around here has one. What is up with these dand rednecks?! Thery're annoying! And to all you Confederates out there; you do know the Rebels were not American. Dang, you weirdos make Yankees like me sick! Take you're Stars and Bars to China or something. Maybe they'll like it more...

Update 3:

Do you know who you are speaking to? And yes you are right. I hate ths place. And I'll have you know I'm pure Yankee and I've traveled all over the north-east and into the Deep South!

Update 4:

You know, Jekin is the only one with a decent answer here. So many years ago, my town was a land where people loved the U.S. . Heck even one of my ancestors was in the Federal Army in the Civil War. THIS IS NOT WHAT HE SUFFERED EXCRUTIATING PAIN FOR!!!!

Update 5:

dlobryan1, your story is touching...I do the same thing when I see that horrible flag. The reason I hate the Confederate flag is for the glory of our fallen Yankee ancestors. Many people who own that flag don't even know what it stood for... It stood for the unfairness of slavery. And today, we all know that slavery is a horrible thing. I only believe that no man should have to bow to another. That is why I hate the Confederacy... I'm sorry if I'm making you people angry, but the United States of America is what I stand for...

Update 6:

I don't think you people who are actually Yankees get what I'm saying in my question. I hate Confederates. Because of them my ancestor had to suffer for the rest of his life. I think the Confederate flag should be banned. It's a disgrace to our true American past.

Update 7:

FOR THE LAST TIME! I LIVE IN THE NORTH IN A REDNECK COUNTY IN PENNSYLVANIA! I'M PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY YANKEE IN MY COUNTY!!!!!

I had 7 family members from Kentucky that all fought for the Union during the Civil War. My great great grandfather fought along side of his 2 brothers at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in Georgia. My gr. gr. grandfathers brother died in his arms. I had another gr gr gr uncle that was imprisoned in the infamous Andersonville prison.

I live in Kentucky which is now considered the south and am enraged when I see the rebel flag. It should be outlawed and never produced again. I have riped a few of them to shreds myself.

With that said, I think your question misses the mark and is flat out wrong.

Added: I read your comment to me and I think you and I share the same thought. Yet, the wording of your question insinuates that I, too, am a redneck with a confederate flag. I have been called a redneck just because of the part of America that I live. It angers me just as an african- american hates being called the "n" word. There are a great many more people that hate the confederate flag than just you and me. I can assure you of this.

My gr. gr. grandfather and his bros. were in the 14th Kentucky Infantry, Company K.

I have lived in New York and California, I have seen Confederate flags on pick-up trucks, but I have never seen one on a porch or anywhere in front of a house. I'm sure there may be some out there, but I haven't seen it. You must live in the south...where rednecks abound. Your assumption is therefore false because America's largest populations are found in cities on both coasts...not in the rural areas of the southern states.

Please tell us where you live. I'm just curious. For all we know, you are a foreigner who just saw a Dukes of Hazzard show.

No reb flags on porches here, we call them verandas. I fear the use of the grand old flag of my ancestors is being sported about by neo nazis. Really scary. Not a good thing to be flown around unreconstructed yankees.

you're kind of ignorant...I suggest you get out and see the rest of the country instead of saying all of america is like your area.

but yeah, I wouldn't mind if they banned the confederate flag. I wonder why they didnt immediately after the Civil War...?

admitting that you are a Yankee is about as dumb as standing up with a knife in a gun fight, the slave issue was not what the war between the states was about but the yanks needed something to get their people to approve the cost of the war so started talking a lot of B.S. now you know how ghetto's were born.

It only appears that way since you never traveled outside of that cow town you call home. Listen Huckleberry, there is a big world out there once you reach the paved road. So save your bus fair and catch a ride out of Hooterville. Maybe then you will see the light and shed your hayseed opinion

    Are you daft?

I live in the south and even here "most" people don't have Confederate flags.
