Soul searching and need an advise.Anyone there to help?
I am a male and I am over 40 years old.I have a desire to achieve success in life just like any successful person. However,I have realised that When I begin or start something which I think could lead me to successful result I do end up giving up half way.Mostly, when I begin,I will start with most interest.Down the road when I face some challenges that give me set backs, then I will loose interest in this very project. But back of my mind,I will be asking myself how can I be successful? To be precise,I always want to own my own business and see my self very rich when I manage to start one.Could it be I am over confident till a certain level?Has anybody ever go through this before.

I feel you are one of the many who are afraid of success. I worked for a boss like that. She could have become extremely successful, but subconsciously chose to sabotage everything she did to accomplish that success. She also finally realized what she was doing, but was just satisfied where she was. sigh. If you want to change this, you are really going to have to make the EFFORT to COMPLETE a project, if it kills ya. Start with a small one, then move on to a bigger one. You're still young enough to make it happen.

Your problem is your are in the wrong field.
When you find the field that is write for you it won't feel like work. You will start your day and get sucked into what you are doing and the next thing you know it is night. You may not have even stopped to eat. IF YOU WOULD NOT DO THIS FOR FREE do something else. You can make money doing just about anything.
When starting a company it should always pass the McDonald's test.
(Hours Required / PROFIT) > What McDonald's Pays.
Otherwise get a job at McDonald's
If the company fails the test configure it a different way until it passes or try a different company.

I'm also male, over 40, and own my own business, so I can feel for your situation.
Your question suggests two potential problems, and one potential solution.
One problem is that you seem to define success in terms of money. Forget that. The biggest secret to Life is that we all get paid to solve someone else's problem, whether that's fixing leaky plumbing, removing garbage, or repairing brain injuries. The key is to find a problem you like to deal with, that people will pay for. Once you do that, opening your own business isn't difficult, and the money will come in time.
The other problem is that you may be more afraid of success than failure. That's more common than people think. We all know what failure is like, it's pretty much like not doing anything at all, but success is kinda scary, people expect you to be able to perform well every single day. When you are afraid of success, your subconscious will do its very best to protect you from it.
The solution is go to a good bookstore and pick out a few books in the Self-Help section that appeal to you, like Think and Grow Rich and How to Win Friends and Influence People, to name the original two in the genre. Budget 15 minutes a day between the moment you wake up and the time you walk out the door to work to reading some of them.

When working out, it's often good to have a "spotter"...somebody who will encourage you as you're trying to get in those last few reps...they help you out when needed, and will be there to keep you from dropping the weights. You sound like you may need a "spotter" for your life...somebody who will encourage you each time you lose interest, and who would push you to continue when you feel like giving up. Do you know anybody like this? They'd have to be somebody you could trust to not let you fail each time you want to give up.
Man, having a dream is awesome! Seeing it up & running is a gift! You just need to see it through to that point, and don't let the voices of the enemy tell you that it'll never work, especially after you've already got the ball rolling. Actually, such a gift may even be good for becoming a consultant for businesses, since you can see the vision, know how to put it together, then sell the idea.
Anyway, I tell you what I'll do. You start something up, and I'll begin praying for you about it, that you don't lose hope and interest in it. ok?

Hi,
Guess many person have the same problem with you. I also had the same.
Basically, we doing some business with full of plan and great positive imagination. But as it's will not going so smooth like our dream. there is many dificulties came and we can't resistance and start to be desperate, at last we will feel lazy to finish wht we start and we got lost interest.
I also feel the same that at final there is nothing work out. It's not kind of confident but it's kind a great positive dream and plan without thing any risk.
Better we try to start from the small one but also think the positive and negative impact and we have to keep doing that and not ill feel later cause we got little problem.
P.S : Keep doing and have a great spirit. Success is my Right...!!
Please inform your biz then, maybe we can join later....he3
Cheers!!

I'm not looking for best answer for this, because all I want to do is reinforce what Jan O said.
I've had the same shortcoming (I'm 60, so have more years at this than you). Not seeing something through, I think, is learned behavior rather than something you were born with. It can be overcome, and Jan has the answer. Start with some project -- anything -- and see it through no matter what, no matter how long it takes. Reach the point that you can say "It's Done!" Then, start another one and do the same.
I agree with Jan O's answer. Best to ya :)

I think we all go through that. It is all about follow through. Don't concentrate on the being rich part, but try getting excited on accomplishing your goal. I think we are all afraid to fail, and that may be the reason you don't go all the way with your ideas. Go for it, give it your all and have confidence that you will achieve your goal. Don't be afraid to fail, it is a part of life, it only means that there is something better out there for you to do. Good luck!

their are people who subconciously are scared of success and will self sabotage themselves when things start going too good! you might be one of them! if you no you have worked hard you deserve it let go and let god reward you with success!
