How do you feel about the murder of the Amish children and how their family handles it?

They still don't follow the teachings of Christ, in that they should be going out to preach and teach others. They select what they want to believe in. Yes, they are a peaceful people, but there is much more to being a Christian than that. Consider the actions of Jehovah's Witnesses, five years ago, when the baby was cut from the belly of the pregnant woman. They did not condemn either the person who did it, or her family. They didn't make a public show of forgiveness, but then they didn't need to. They also know that they will again see the young mother, when she is resurrected after Armageddon.

I live only minutes from an Amish community, and I consider it an honor to be able to know them. They are truly decent people, and this level of violence should never have entered their world.

You don't have to be born Amish to become Amish. You can marry an Amish person, or adopt their ways and join their community. They are very accepting of outsiders. Several local people have joined them, and the church Elders guided them through the process. I don't know exactly what that would be though.

People can become Amish. They would have to live like them and attend the church for a year before they would be allowed membership.

What happened in this area was horrible. I wish the media would just go and let everyone greave in peace.

I have always respected the Amish as well as the Mennonite and Brethren groups. I was a member of a Brethren church for a few years. They impressed me deeply as being true children of God.

The Brethren after consulting one another about me, allowed me into their church. And I was from Florida. So they do accept members with sincere hearts.

To become Christian you have to be reborn spiritually.

Yes, I also am impressed with the Amish & how they are forgiving the family of the murderer. I guess they can freely forgive, because Jesus has forgiven them.

I agree - they show amazing examples. Isn't it nice to see that on national TV (not something they would have wanted, but something that was probably needed). I only wish all the people in the world who think Americans are reprobate could have seen that for themselves. No whining, no revenge.

these folks are to be considered as fine examples of what love and forgiveness are all about. personally feel as though GOD has used this tragedy to illustrate how we should act towards others. the Amish Community has banded together as all of us should do.

I feel sorry for the children...and pray almighty to give them strength to be good in the face of evils.

My heart goes out to them. They showed true strength of character and love of God when they forgave the killer. They are stronger in faith and humanity then most give them credit for.
