Isn't the spirit of a person amazing? How do you explain this?
My grandma died a couple of years ago. She had alzhiemers and then had a stroke. After the stroke doctors said she had only days left. At the time my sister and I were away at college so when we heard we said we'd wait until she was gone to go up there. Well, days turned to weeks and the doctors tried to aid in her passing on with a morphine drift and everything but to no avail. Finally, while at work my sister said "she's waiting for us". So, we drove out the next day. We went to visit her and she was in a coma state by then and at one point she seized and her eyes opened and she looked as if she was looking up to Heaven, telling God she's ready. My sister whispered in her ear before we left that it was okay for her to go now. Later, that night my grandma passed on. Do you really think her spirit was waiting for us before it could moved on? How do you explain this?
This stems from a question I just asked about my dad. I asked this in the religious & spirituality section but they were too focused on the fact I said Heaven in the question.

Willpower is an amazing thing. Some people will themselves to die, others will themselves to live.
It does sound as if she waited to hear your voices before she could peacefully pass on. I think it is always better to try to get there for someone so that they can say goodbye, even if they're in a coma, as many comatose patients still have some sentience.

My grandpa did the same thing. Waited for me to get there. I spent the night in the next hospital bed over next to him. He was in a coma too. Then he passed away in the morning. We were lucky I guess.

yes, I believe she was waiting for you. I had a similiar experience with my moms best friend, who waited for everyone important to her to visit before letting go. My grandma is sick and at hospice right now and I know she is waiting for me and my sister (we're flying out on Tuesday). I think it's nice you were able to see her and let her go.

If you believe in energy, I think that its hard sometimes for people to cross over. To me, it seems like you and your sister gave her the extra energy she needed to move on. I guess you can never know whats really happening at times like that, but it's fortunate that you were able to do that for her!

Things like your grandmother are sometimes strange...we don't know when God is going to call any of us...she had a long life and your family will miss her..but life goes on until it's our time to go... sorry about your loss.
