What is the best way to remove water spots (Hard Water Deposits) from my car?

I have a metallic gray car. I live in central California where the local water is hard. I know that softeners are added to some of the water systems. The sprinklers in my yard have deposited something on my new car, and it wont come off with normal washing. Even vinnegar, which is slightly acidic, won't budge the spots.

It sounds like you are correct about the hard water spots. What you can do is buy a pruduct called Scratch-x. it a an extremly mild scratch remover that will take off the hard water spots. you can also use a clay bar to remove the hard water spots. the product is made by a company called Meguiars. You can buy these two products at any big shopping center or auto parts store. Also Meguiars makes a car wash soap called NXT(purple colored soap) that softens water being used for washing the car. hope this helps, good luck!!
