Gene Simmons; In 1976 he saw one of Van Halen's shows and subsequently financed their first demo tape. Simmons wanted to change the band's name to Daddy Longlegs and had designed cover art (a daddy longlegs spider wearing a top hat), but the band disagreed and stuck with Van Halen.
In July 2006, Steely Dan posted a humorous letter on their website, saying that Owen Wilson's film You, Me, and Dupree, is stolen from their song "Cousin Dupree". The song is about a couch-hopping houseguest; the film is about a house guest who overstays his welcome. The song peaked on the Billboard adult contemporary charts at #30 in 2000. In 2001, "Cousin Dupree" won a Grammy for best pop performance by a duo or group from Steely Dan's album Two Against Nature, which won album of the year. Owen Wilson defended himself in similarily deadpan comic fashion, stating "I have never heard the song 'Cousin Dupree' and I don't even know who this gentleman, Mr. Steely Dan, is. I hope this helps to clear things up and I can get back to concentrating on my new movie, 'HEY 19.'"
New York band Interpol has received mail in the past asking them about the recruiting process for the police organization, Interpol.
After repeatedly being passed over by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since becoming eligible in 1997, Ozzy Osbourne famously demanded that Black Sabbath be removed from consideration for the institution. In 1999, Osbourne said after Black Sabbath was passed over their second year of eligibility, "Just take our name off the list. Save the ink." His basis for this position was that because the fans did not select the members, it was "totally irrelevant". The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ignored this request and Black Sabbath was finally inducted by Metallica members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich on March 13, 2006.
Elton John is a huge fan of Black Sabbath, and once said it is the only hard rock group he likes.

1) On the Beatles novelty song, "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number) not only did Brian Jones (of the Rolling Stones) play sax, but the Beatles were helped by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, whose leader, Neil Innes, later played the John Lennon equivalent in "The Rutles: All You Need is Cash". He was nominated for an Emmy for it.
2) When the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show on Feb. 9th, 1964, there was a Monkee on the stage that same show: Davy Jones was with a touring company of "Oliver!" playing the Artful Dodger.

I noticed this, and found it pretty interesting. There's only a couple people between the popular singer Nelly Furtado and the avant-garde composer Edgard Varèse. Furtado and Steve Vai played together at the Grammy's a while ago. Steve Vai played with Frank Zappa and Frank Zappa wrote letters to Varèse when he was young.

Before recording "Help" the Beatles had two bits of toast each. John Lennon was alone in choosing not to have marmalade on his although he did have sugar in his tea. George Harrison was hit by a falling leaf on the way to the studio but was still able to play bass. Ringo said he saw a mermaid in the bathroom but no-one believed him, and Paul picked his nose and ate it when he thought no-one was looking.
