Kirsten Dunst in "Marie Antoinette"? What were they thinking?

she has too "modern" a look to be believable in a "period" film.

Not only that, but I find her to um, "empty headed" to play the part of Marie Antoinette. I'll probably go see it, but not because of her, but only because I like period films.

What's wrong with Kirsten Dunst? She is a good actress and can play the part well. As for the "modern" look, come on, the costume and makeup people will transform her.

well, sofia coppola (the director) also had kirsten in her other movie, the virgin suicides.... she's actually really good in retro periods like the 60's or 70's... (think mona lisa smile, or some other movie "girls don't cry" or something, virgin suicides...)..actually she was pretty awesome in "interview of a vampire", but she was younger....

not sure about marie antoinette, but they were looking for someone who was kinda flighty, and child-like qualities because marie was like, what, 14 when she got married? anyhoo, i think sofia is making the whole movie kinda contemporary anyways...
